1. Where is Zurrieq?
Zurrieq is one of the largest and expanding localities in the
southern part of the Island of Malta, Europe, having a population
of around 10,000.
2. What can be found in Zurrieq?
Zurrieq has a history dating back to the origins of the Maltese
Islands. Nowadays we can still find various archaelogical sites,
towers, churches, chapels, palaces, monumentes, historical windmills
and vast areas of unspoilt countryside. The Xarolla Windmill and
the Blue Grotto are the localities most visited sites by the Maltese
and tourist alike.
The Zurrieq community is very active both in socio-cultural and
religious activities. Two religious feasts are held annualy, two
band clubs, various sports clubs and other local organisations
that keep united the community in all walks of life.
3. What is the Zurrieq Local Council?
The Zurrieq Local Council is the local government responsible
for the upkeeping and maintnenance of the locality. Its main offices
are at Centru tal-Komunita Joe Cassar, Triq Pietru Pawl Saydon.
The elected branch of the council is made up of the Mayor, the
Vice Mayor and five Councillors whlst the executive branch is
headed by the Executive Secretary together with three full time
officers.
