Remig Sacco is a well known journalist and political commenter
on the island. In his extensive writings, as the author recalls,
goes back in time and recalls all the events that happened in
Zurrieq for almost a quarter of a century.
In his introduction the author pays tribute to the former Mayor
of Zurrieq Joseph M. Cassar, who inspired him in collecting the
works that are now being produced in this book. The author did
not limit himself to writing but has produced an extensive series
of photographs which are being published for the first time. The
author dedicates 14 chapters to his readers in which he left no
stone unturned and it can be soundly said that they covers all
aspects of socio-cultural-political life of Zurrieq. The main
topics are: education, public health, the parish church and chapels,
local priests, band clubs, local clubs, the two main feasts, local
folklore and traditions, shops and local businesses, politics,
the second world war and Wied iz-Zurrieq.
